To begin, think about the size and shape of the portrait you'd like. If you're unsure, I’m happy to recommend the ideal dimensions based on your reference photos. Also think about whether you prefer the look of a square or rectangular artwork, and how the drawing of your pet will sit within those dimensions.

REFERENCE PHOTOS

Next, you’ll want to pick a clear, good-quality headshot of your pet. The best photos capture your pet’s unique personality through their expression and pose. Natural lighting works wonders—near a window or outside on a bright but overcast day is ideal. Most importantly, I need to be able to see your pet’s eyes clearly, as that’s where so much of their character comes through.

A great photo really helps me create a portrait that feels true to your pet!
